Essential Controls

1Use a shackle with adequate marked capacity and correct pin arrangement for the connection.
2Align the load with the shackle body and avoid force on the pin that can unscrew or distort it.
3Confirm equipment capacity, configuration and inspection status before use.
4Use a lift plan or task plan appropriate to the complexity and risk.
5Establish an exclusion zone and keep people out of the load path and pinch points.
6Use competent operators and agreed communication signals.
